Geri Lynn Baumblatt, M.A. is the Executive Director of Patient Engagement at Emmi and an industry expert on patient engagement, health literacy, and shared decision making. Gen believes LISTENING IN HEALTH CARE in today’s scenario is very important. For the past 12 years she’s overseen the creation of a large library of multimedia patient engagement, education, shared decision making, and behavior change Emmi programs and interactive phone calls. She hosts an annual Health Literacy Month blog series and she regularly speaks and serves on health literacy, shared decision making, patient engagement and patient experience panels for organizations like AHRQ and the Brookings Institute, and speaks at events such as Stanford Medicine X, Duke Health Care Conference, the ONC Consumer Health IT Summit, The Beryl Patient Experience Summit, the Population Health Colloquium, and the Center for Plain Language. She is on the editorial board of the Journal of Patient Experience and is a regular contributor to the Association for Patient Experience. She works with decision scientists, behavior change experts, patients, and clinicians; they draw on their research and experience to create content that helps patients engage in their care.
