Dr. Barnaby received her Doctorate in Criminal Justice from Rutgers School of Criminal Justice, United States. She is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice in the Department of Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Justice Program, Kingsborough Community College (CUNY), New York. Her diverse specializations include Immigration, Juvenile Justice, Wrongful Conviction, Crime & Race, and Criminal Justice Education. Her expertise is evident in her published work, which includes articles in The American Journal of Forensic Psychology, Crime & Delinquency, Journal of Criminal Justice Education, and Race & Justice. She also serves as a peer reviewer for numerous journals.
Her current research agenda includes examining the Criminal Justice Classroom as a ‘Listening Hub’. The classroom is an important space – where all ideas separated by age, race, socioeconomic status, culture, etc., meet. This is an ideal space to introduce the art of Listening as an essential tool and allow students to develop a skill transferrable to their communities, careers, and personal lives.
